School zone speedster caught

A man has been caught driving 45km/h over the speed limit in an Officer school zone.

Cardinia Highway Patrol detected a silver Mitsubishi sedan driving at 85km/h eastbound on Bridge Road, Officer in a 40km/h school zone around 8.30am on Thursday 4 August.

The 37-year-old male driver from Officer was issued a penalty notice and fined $786, police said.

His drivers licence was suspended for six months.

Police used the incident to remind drivers that there is a zero tolerance in school zones.

Remember that school speed zones are designed to keep kids safe, police said in an Eyewatch Facebook post.

School zones operate on weekdays during Victoria school terms between 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm.

Slow down and take care. There is no excuse.
