Barbed bouquets

HOW impressed was I to walk into the McDonald’s store near Camms Road in Cranbourne on Sunday and see the restaurant adorned with Mother’s Day balloons and nearly every table decorated with floral arrangements.
Never before had I seen this done and was quite impressed that they went to all that trouble and effort to make it an even more special occasion for those mothers lucky enough to visit on the day.
This was short lived, however, when some customers decided to steal the flowers from their table upon leaving the restaurant.
If that wasn’t bad enough, I then witnessed another couple of families complain to staff and managers about the fact that they were not allowed to take the flowers from their tables when they left.
What has the world come to when all people can do is think of themselves and then try to bully or pressure innocent staff.
As a result the management was forced to remove the remaining flowers from the tables in an attempt to avoid anymore unnecessary conflict and most likely will not go to the trouble again next year for Mother’s Day, meaning that a lot more people will miss out because of a selfish few.
Not to be outdone, however, those last few families left with balloons as a token of their “right to have something for free”.
Shame on you all those involved in the theft and full credit to the staff and managers on duty that day.
