RESIDENTS of the City of Casey are invited to celebrate the cultural diversity of their city.
On Sunday 31 August the community is being urged to come along to a multicultural festival in Casey.
The free festival is put on by the City of Casey and offers a variety of entertainment and workshops, including food stalls, dance performances, textiles and multicultural and children’s arts and crafts.
There will also be an African drumming circle, flamenco and Samoan dancing, roving characters and free face painting.
City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon described the event as an ideal networking opportunity.
“The festival is a great way to bring people together from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds,” she said.
“Connecting communities through sharing cultural identities with food, performances and conversation is a great way to increase the awareness of the importance of cultural diversity within the City of Casey.”
The mayor also said it is important to promote multiculturalism.
“It’s vital we promote cultural equality and diversity in all its forms if we want to continue to provide an inclusive and harmonious community for people to live in,” she said.
The festival will be held on Saturday 31 August, from 11am-3pm, at John Pandazopoulos Hall in Doveton.
