Building partnerships is something cricketers usually have to worry about…but it was a premium placed on golfers at Deep Creek Golf Club on Saturday.

Players teamed up for a Two-Ball Aggregate Stableford event, where both scores are combined to find a winner.

At the end of the day a combined par score of 72 points took the top prize, with Scott Irwin (13) and Matt Lloyd (7) walking away with the choccies by a single shot.

Ross Stewart (20) and Andrew Heagney (19) will be rueing the odd missed putt, finishing runners-up with 71 points, while scores down to 66 points gained a prize.

Down the lines went to Marcus Cameron/Robin McCrae with 70 points, Brett McGee/David Bell, John Hutcheon/Shane Wilkinson and Dean Jones/Steven Van Roy with 68 points, Shane Franzi/Peter Reilly with 67 points and Bob Naismith/Mark Stewart with 66 points.

Nearest the Pins: 2nd Hole: Dean Jones (44cm) and 16th Hole: Anthony Franzi (3.5m).

Adam Williamson (17) enjoyed the magnificent conditions on Wednesday, scoring a mammoth 41 points to win the mid-week stableford competition.

It was freezing cold in the morning, but the sun soon lifted to provide perfect conditions for golfers.

Crafty left-hander Neville Taylor (17) was runner up with 39 points, with down the lines going to Murray O’Dwyer 35 and Bob Naismith and Tom McDermott with 33 points.

The SuperComp Back 9 was won via countback by Ron Parsons with 19 points.

Nearest the pin went to Royce Thompson (2.88m) on the 16th.

Playing to their handicaps is difficult for the ladies at present, with soft fairways providing very little run for Thursday’s stableford competition.

Leah Barker (24) played a lovely round of golf in the conditions, scoring 30 points to win by a clear three-shot margin over Anne Donovan on 27 points.

But Donovan got some of her own back by winning the nearest the pin on the second hole (3.60m).

And golfers enjoyed absolutely spectacular conditions for Sunday’s stableford event with Steely Mateariki (9) scoring an impressive 39 points to win by two shots from Nick Gray (5).

Down the lines went to Leon Mateariki, Shaun Hegarty and Brenton Hollingworth with 34 points.
