Support for heavy vehicle industry

Major Jeff Springfield, Leigh Merrigan, Sharon Morrison, Dale Morrison and Inspector Hafiz Mayar are celebrating the support for the heavy vehicle industry.

Cardinia Shire Council is supporting the heavy vehicle industry to address drug and alcohol issues after successfully receiving the Heavy Vehicle Alcohol and Other Drug Policy Grant.

The $7000 grant program will provide small to medium businesses in the heavy vehicle industry access to free toolkits to address the serious health and safety risk and associated liabilities of alcohol and drug related issues in the workplace.

Community safety is a leading priority for council and the Safer Communities Partnership Committee is committed to working in partnership with other agencies to continue to create a safer Cardinia.

The grant program will assist heavy vehicle transport businesses to design and implement an alcohol and drug policy within the workplace and ensure consistent management and decision-making regarding related matters.

Applications for the toolkits are currently open and will remain open until all spots are filled.

The grants program is made possible with grant funding received from the Victorian Government’s Department of Transport.
