It seems like some pranks never grow old…

Pakenham’s Sid Earle Reserve water fountain, on the corner of the Princes Highway and McGregor Road, was transformed into an extra large bubble bath on Saturday 8 January – an age old prank that gave many locals a good laugh.

A few photos of the foamy fountain, posted by Nicky Di Iorio in the local Facebook Noticeboard, received hundreds of reactions and comments from the community – with many people reminiscing of similar pranks they’d seen over the years.

“Ah yes the old bubbles in the fountain trick, we did this nearly 20 years ago,” wrote Scott Wedmore.

“Good to see the old pranks never die!”

Another local, Brett Milner, recalled a similar prank his father had once pulled.

“About a hundred years ago when Carlton won their last flag my old man dyed it blue and it stayed like that for nearly a year until they turned it off and fixed it.”

With all the difficult news in the world at the moment, it certainly lifted the spirits to see a bit of harmless fun in the area – and who doesn’t love bubbles?!
