Princes Freeway update

The freeway has now been reopened at normal speed.

In time for the long-weekend and the influx of holiday-makers to the Gippsland region, the 100km/h speed limit has been restored on the Princes Freeway near Bunyip.

A 40km/h restriction had been in place between Tynong Road and Tonimbuk Road, to protect stray stock and allow access for emergency services. It has now returned to 100km/h.

The road has been inspected and deemed safe to allow higher speeds, however motorists are reminded to stay vigilant.

Stay well informed by remaining aware of the fire danger warnings.

Emergency services continue to operate in the area due to nearby fire activity.

Smoke is still impacting the area, reducing visibility in parts. Turn on headlights in smoky conditions.

Visit emergency.vic.gov.au or the VicEmergency App for fire danger information before you travel.
