Myer boss talks business

Bernie Brookes, former CEO of Myer Limited, is the guest speaker for the upcoming Casey Cardinia Business Breakfast.

THE former leader of a retail super-giant will speak at an upcoming business event in Pakenham.
Bernie Brookes, former CEO of Myer Limited, will share his experiences managing and rebuilding the multi-million retailer after its separation from the Coles Group.
Attendees at the Casey Cardinia Business Breakfast on Wednesday 24 June at the Cardinia Cultural Centre can expect to hear about the challenges he faced leading the organisation during significant periods of change and re-engineering.
Cardinia mayor Leticia Wilmot said that having a speaker with a significant wealth of knowledge of the retail sector was sure to be of benefit, particularly to local retail businesses.
“There is sure to be something you can take away and potentially apply to your business from Mr Brookes sharing his 30 years-plus of retail senior management experience,” she said.
Mr Brookes will also speak on international management, having undertaken roles in India and China and has also been a management director for the Woolworths Group, among a number of other roles with the company.
Casey mayor Mick Morland said this event was the second of four Casey Cardinia business breakfasts to be held this year.
“The breakfast is great value because of the opportunity it provides you to network with other businesses in the region, make new contacts, expand your client base and be inspired to develop new business ideas,” he said.
The event runs from 6.45am until 9am.
Tickets to the breakfast are $55 per person (GST inclusive) or $700 for a table sponsorship (with seating for 10 people). The cost includes a full cooked breakfast, tea and coffee. Discounts apply for Casey Cardinia Business Group members.
