FORMER Beaconsfield junior Amy Heath has struck gold in her first game back at the club after the Eagles downed cross-creek rivals Berwick by nine goals on Saturday.
Heath, who started her netball in the Beacy Under-13s, has returned as coach after four years away from the club and said things had changed a little since the old days at Perc Allison Oval.
“Look, the move to the new facility is awesome, the facilities are great, but it was a bit of a shock because we have some great memories from the old courts at Beacy,” she said.
“But it’s all positive, the new place is fantastic and we’ll just have to create some new memories now.”
Beaconsfield’s win was built around a strong defensive effort from Kaela Hughes and Dani Cameron, a brilliant first-game effort from wing-defence Gabby Stinear and the return of star goaler Andi Dickson.
In other games, new coaches, Cranbourne’s Simon O’Shanassy and Narre Warren’s Jade Heinrich started their 2015 campaigns with a thrilling draw while reigning premier Doveton scored its first win of the season with a comfortable 30-goal victory over Tooradin.
Hampton Park remains undefeated after two games after downing a competitive Pakenham outfit by 18 goals at Toomuc Reserve.
“You can play all the practice matches you want but nothing compares to the intensity of a game being played for four points,” said Pakenham coach Kerry Twyford, who this week takes on her team of the past five years, Narre Warren.
