Play say forum opens

CARDINIA Shire residents can have their say on how the community plays.
Council’s Play Space Strategy will be available for public comment until Tuesday 23 September.
The strategy will guide the planning, development and management of the shire’s growing play space network and ensure council can provide high quality play opportunities for all ages and abilities.
A key direction of the strategy considers a range of play space opportunities in addition to formal play equipment.
Cardinia Shire mayor Graeme Moore said there were about 100 locations around the shire that held the opportunity for play.
“All public play spaces, including playgrounds and other recreation facilities, contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community by providing opportunities for physical activity as well as socialising,” he said.
“We have many young families living and moving into Cardinia Shire, so it is important to provide high quality and diverse spaces for play for people of all ages and abilities.”
The draft strategy can be viewed on the ‘Recreation strategies, policies and plans’ page on council’s website until Tuesday 23 September.
