Assignment with a difference

PAKENHAM Secondary College students are going on assignment.
Their mission? To entertain audiences and impress theatregoers.
The college production The Assignment will be performed this Friday, 6 October at the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
Teacher Ally Jenner said the production would take audiences on the journey of two students who are trying to complete a music assignment.
The pair are “not exactly friends in class or at school” and will have to sort out their personal differences just to get through the task, she said.
As they work to complete the project they encounter a world of music from jazz, swing and old school rock and roll to hip-hop, metal and pop.
Of course, no play is complete without some romantic tension and as the two students begin to put aside their past judgements of one another they find they have more than a few things in common.
“No less than 10 musical numbers will be performed live throughout the show, including eight of the college’s bands,” Ms Jenner said.
A highlight will undoubtedly be crazy antics from Stefano, the Latin lover nurse at the old people’s home and his boss, Nurse Ratchett.
The Assignment features students from all year levels highlighting the talent involved in the performing arts at the college.
Many of the performers were also involved in the award-winning Rock Eisteddfod show last month.
Tickets for the 7pm show cost $8 for students, $10 for adults and are available from the college.
