Minis a maxi hit

HUNDREDS of miniature trains, planes and automobiles were on show at the first Toys and Hobbies Collectors Fair in Pakenham on Saturday.
The fair was a toy lovers’ paradise and organisers say it could become an annual event.
Presented by the Japanese Model Train Collectors group, the fair brought together collectors and stallholders from around the region.
The town hall was filled with stalls full of new and used model trains, diecast cars, tin plate toys, books, swap cards, trading cards, plastic model kits, football memorabilia and more.
Coordinator Robert Ringrose was encouraged by the response to the fair.
“It’s the first time we’ve done something like this,” he said.
The Japanese Model Train Collectors are part of the Suzuran Model rail group and this collectors’ fair was their major fundraising effort for the year.
“We have members all over the state and are a non-profit group,” Mr Ringrose said.
“We are trying to promote Japanese model railway here in Victoria and we have been an active group for the past three years.”
