Three…non-chocolate gifts for Easter

Three ways to celebrate Easter without all the chocolate. Picture: UNSPLASH.

1. Painting eggs is a fun activity to complete with kids and make for a vibrant gift. The egg is believed to be a symbol of resurrection. There are multiple reasons why it is tradition to dye or paint eggs such as marking the end of fasting during Lent, as well as painting eggs red to symbolise the blood Jesus shed on the cross.

2. Kids of all ages love a toy bunny. Plush toys also make a great present for a toddler or infant for Easter, when they aren’t old enough to eat chocolate.

3. A traditional Simnel cake. Simnel cake is a light fruitcake enjoyed on Easter Sunday. The decorations on top of the cake includes 11 or 12 marzipan balls to represent the 12 Apostles.
