
DROUIN GOLF
Drouin Golf and Country Club was a hive of activity on Saturday as a bumper filed of 146 players contested the last Stableford competition before winter.
A Grade was tight at the top, with Anthony Lillis winning on a countback from Alan Storer, both players scoring 38 points.
B Grade was won by Geoff Percival with 36 points, while Simon Caygill was runner up after a four-way countback with 35 points.
Best score for the day came in C Grade with Mark Stewart scoring 40 points to finish one clear of Stuart Benjamin who was runner up with 39 points.
Dave Axford claimed victory in D Grade with 36 points with Ray Smith finishing runner up in a three-way countback with 35 points.
Gary Fry was the winner of E Grade with 38 points and winner of the Super Six with 15 points.
Geoff Closter finished runner up in E Grade with 37 points.
On Wednesday 70 players competed in the midweek Stableford competition.
John Wolswinkel led A Grade with 36 points, while David McCann came runners up on a countback with 35 points.
B Grade was won by Luke Vanderligt on a countback over Chris Bogart, both players finishing with 38 points.
Alan Meagher was both the C Grade winner and the Super Six winner for the day, scoring 37 points in the main comp and 14 points in the Super Six.
C Grade runner up was Lucas Green with 36 points and down the lines went to Brett Dyer 36, Peter Bogart 35, Warren Cook 35, Jason Fritzlaff 35, Ray Haley 35, Paul Barratt 34, Craig Harris 34, Mike Duddy 34, Geoff Campbell 33 and Shane McFarlane 32c/b.
Nearest the pins went to 5th Cam Snell and 10th Paul Barratt.
On Sunday Tim Lawrence led the field in the Medley Stableford competition with 38 points and Alan Storer was runner up with 35 points.
Down the line balls went to Steel Mateariki, Nick Gray and Matt Carlson all with 34 points.
Thursday’s nine-hole Stableford Medley was won by Zach Bambridge on a countback from Phil Thomson, with both players scoring 19 points.
Down the line balls went to Lea Caldwell with 18 points and Anne Nielson with 17 points.
Premier League
The Autumn Premier League finished on Saturday with the final between Custard Arms and Shep No Rick.
In a close battle, the top-two scores from Custard Arms equalled 68 points and they narrowly defeated Shep No Rick who scored 67 points.
The winning team consisted of Phil Adams, Danny Gorman, Paul Barratt, Tony Piner, John Piner and Frank Clebney.
Upcoming competitions this week are Stableford, tomorrow and Sunday, with Stroke on Saturday for June’s Monthly Medal.
The course will be closed this Thursday.
DROUIN LADIES
On Tuesday 27 May the women played a 4BBB competition in the annual Anthony Bainbridge event.
Winners on the day were Karen Adams and Vanessa Campbell with 42 points and second place went to Sue Crosby and Angela Greenall with 40 points on a countback.
Third place getters were Susie Menzel and Liz Jensz with 40 points.
Nearest the pins went to Christine Knight on the 5th, Helen Moon second shot to the 8th, Michelle Fairlie on the 10th and Glenda Warren second shot on the 17th.

The winner of Saturday’s stableford event was Ciara Davies (20) with 36 points and runner up was Vanessa Campbell (25) with 33 points.
This week is the Monthly Medal/Stroke event with all putts to be counted.
