GARFIELD GOLF
Cold fresh and icy mornings turned into perfect weather for the many golf comps to choose from at Garfield Golf Club.
The two Males , Trevor and Shane, had good weeks with Trevor scoring 36 points on Monday then coming out on Thursday to win the par comp shooting 75 off the stick to win the A Grade Par event with a total of +6 two shots to the better of Trevor Thompson.
Just eight players were able to either beat or play to their allotted handicap for the day.
In a tough day for scoring just five birdies were achieved for the day on the par threes.
Carol Beard won the B Grade event with a score of +2 whilst a final score of -2 to a countback was the number to finish in the money.
Not to be out done by his father, Shane Male came out on Saturday, on the back of a form resurgence, to finish third for the A Grade event with a countback score of 38 points as well as scoring a nearest the pin on the 4th, which he duly converted as well as an eagle three on the par five 17th hole.
Steve Kohut Jnr, another player in consistent form, won Saturday’s A Grade event with a round of 39 points playing off his mark of just seven.
Cameron Miller had the week’s best result by winning the B Grade event with a huge 44 points, five clear of John Blair in the runners up stall.
Curtis Duffy tasted victory for the C Grade event with a round of 40 points whilst Shane McNeill won the D Grade event by a countback from Rex Turner with a score of 39 points.
A final score of 34 points was required to finish in the money and was achieved by some 41 players.
Just the 25 players were able to either better or play to their handicap for the day.
A total of 25 players scored birdies on the par threes for their round with the 4th giving up 6 of those whilst the 11th was plundered some seven times.
Peter McNeish achieved an eagle-three on the par five 1st hole.
A total of 62 players turned out on Monday with Dave Pateman winning the A Grade event by a countback from Warren Arnott with a score of 37 points.
Jacob Klein won the B Grade event with a score of 36 points.
A final countback score of 33 points was the number to feature in the prize pool.
Graeme Durran scored a pair of birdies for the day on the 4th and 16th holes.
This week is the annual Garfield Open Tournament.
