DEEP CREEK GOLF

It was one of the biggest days of the year at the Deep Creek Golf Club on Saturday.

The opening round of the 2023 Club Championships took place; the March Monthly Medal also went up for grabs…while monthly medal winners from 2022 squared off for the Medal of Medallist trophy.

And it was A Grade player Ricky Davies (9) who was undoubtedly the star of the show!

Davies handled the gusty northerly breeze and hot conditions with ease, carding a round of 68 nett to take out the March Monthly Medal and also the daily A Grade event.

Davies’ gross score of 77 off the stick also provides him with a very healthy advantage heading into the second day of the championships.

Runner up in A Grade was Peter Reilly (7) who signed off on a 73 nett, which was good enough to secure the Medal of Medallist trophy for this year.

Congratulations to both Ricky and Peter on fantastic rounds of golf in very tough conditions.

The daily B Grade winner was Mark Hatton (15) with 71 nett, four shots clear of Mathew Elliot (16) with a rock-solid 75 nett.

Duncan Campbell (29) was the best of the C Grade contingent on Saturday, scoring a 73 nett for a one-shot win over Damon Whaley (53).

Balls down the line were hard earned, and were won by Steven Van Roy 74, Anthony Franzi and Simon Fay 75, and Neville Taylor, Robert North and Mat Brown with a score of nett 76.
