An already high standard of competition went to great new levels in a fantastic round six of the South West Gippsland Dart League.

Two 180’s were thrown, a new highest peg-out for the season was achieved, while the first 15-0 white-wash to Gembrook gives the team from the hills a sneaky chance of playing finals.

The best game for the night was fought out between 26ers and Snipers, with 26ers knocking off last season’s premiership side in an 8-7 thriller.

This was a huge clash between two teams inside the top four, with 26ers now sitting in second place on the ladder after their fifth victory from six outings this season.

The Snipers, quite literally, threw everything at the 26ers – with Dean Gibbs nailing his first 180 for the year – but the 26ers held firm in a great contest.

The other tight match-up took place between Just Social and Pakyone, with a brilliant maximum-180 from Jamie Wolff giving Just Social the inspiration for an 8-7 victory.

These teams will be battling each other for a top-four position, so this was a big won for Just Social to win.

This was a high-quality shoot-out, with Jamie Wolff throwing his 180 and Sherryl from Pakyone producing a 108-checkout…the highest in the competition this season.

Two other players to throw impressive checkouts in round six were Ant and Hank from the Warriors, who had a commanding 14-1 win over Bullseyes.

Ant led the way with a 91 finish, before Hank gazumped his teammate with a 98 peg.

After sliding from top position last week – after a 13-2 loss to Just Social – the Warriors are back at the top of their game and looking good for a shake at the title.

Gembrook was in devastating form against The Hoodies, winning 15-0, after showing positive signs in a narrow 9-6 loss to 26ers last week.

That form now looks good, with 26ers sitting in second place, so Gembrook can expect to be competitive in most games this season.

And in the final game of round six, the Rebels proved far too strong for Fore in a 13-2 win at the Cardinia Club.

With three games being played in the one room there was a great buzz around, and the Rebels rose to the occasion in a really creditable performance.

Tony “The PM” Abbott was in great form for the Rebels, throwing consecutive scores of 95, 174 and 99 in a winning leg.

Mud Rats had the bye.
