Steely resolve wins Big Bash at Garfield

GARFIELD BIG BASH TOURNAMENT

Garfield Bowling Club hosted its second Big Bash tournament for the season on Sunday 19 February.

The Big Bash is a format similar to that seen on Bowls TV, where teams play five games of six ends, after which the top four teams play off in finals.

Garfield put on another perfect day for the event, which was enjoyed by all.

After the five rounds of play, four teams stood out on top of the ladder, with those teams then playing semi-finals before the grand final matchup was decided.

The winners of the day were the ‘Men of Steel’ team from Yarra Junction, consisting of Graham Steel, Alan Weeden and David Martin, who had the steel to last the day out.

The local Garfield team the ‘White’s Warriors’, being Graeme Burton, Alan White and Shane Oliver, came second by the most miniscule of margins – just one point – in the final game.

The club is grateful to Carpet Court in Pakenham for their support of the day, as well as the great work put in by Garfield members to make the day run smoothly.
