SES crews were called to help remove trees blown down at Berwick Railway Station. HIGH winds last week damaged several cars parked at Berwick Railway Station.
Narre Warren and Pakenham SES volunteers are keeping their fingers crossed for fairer weather after fierce windstorms have had them out around the clock.
Pakenham SES spokesman Michael Bates said it was the organisation’s busiest week for some time.
“Up until 30 July, the SES had received 19 calls for assistance,” he said.
“The strong winds and accompanying rain on Tuesday, 31 July saw that figure more than double. The SES received 26 calls for assistance between the hours of 7.30pm and midnight.
“The worst hit area was Pakenham itself with 85 per cent of the calls,” Mr Bates said.
“This trend continued into the remainder of the week as the clean-up continued.”
Trees blown down onto roads by winds of up to 90 kilometres per hour prompted most of the calls for help.
A football scoreboard at Toomuc Reserve was another casualty of the storms.
