Setting the default homepage

Nick Verhaar
Many computer users may have heard of the term ‘homepage’ before but not quite known what it means.
For those of you who don’t know what a homepage is, it is the page that opens on your screen every time you connect to the internet and open your web browser.
They come in very handy and you can set your computer to welcome you to your favourite sports website, news and media, or even your favourite web forum.
Here’s how you can quickly and easily set your homepage to something you would like.
No matter which browser you’re using, whether it be Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, or one of the many other alternatives, the process of changing your default homepage is quite similar.
Simply fire up your web browser and click on ‘Tools’ from the menu at the top.
Now scroll your mouse down and select ‘Internet Options’ or ‘Options’ from the list. From here you should see a section that says ‘homepage’ and a box with an address in it.
If you are already at the site you wish to set as your homepage, simply press ‘Use Current’ and it will automatically set your default homepage to the website you are currently viewing.
Otherwise you will be required to enter the URL manually, and you must know the full address or it will not work correctly.
Once you are done, simply press ‘OK’ at the bottom.
If you have another browser, the steps should be quite similar to what is listed above.
Once you have successfully followed the guideline above, each and every time you connect to the internet your browser should automatically open to the new address you have specified.
