THEY may not have enough classes to represent all 71 nations competing at next month’s Commonwealth Games, but Oatlands Primary School students have certainly given it their best shot.
The Narre Warren school recently held its own Commonwealth Games Day, staging an opening ceremony.
Physical education teacher Geraldine Gamble said each class represented a Commonwealth nation with the school’s 740 students taking part in the celebrations.
All students then enjoyed sport sessions, playing games with a big parachute as well as shot put, hurdles and relay running.
Ms Gamble said no scores had been kept on the day and students were excited about the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
“They really got into the swing of it,” she said.
“The day was non-competitive and non-scoring and everyone got a medal.”
