LEAGUE officials have refused to comment on an ugly brawl involving at least two adults during a junior football match at Hallam last month.
The News obtained exclusive pictures of the fight which occurred during the last quarter of an under 15 Premier Division game between Fountain Gate and Hallam junior football clubs.
Runners from both teams came to blows while concerned spectators at Hallam Reserve looked on in shock.
The Dandenong District Junior Football League (DDJFL) would not disclose any details of the incident to The News.
DDJFL football operations manager Glenn Finkelde refused to elaborate on any sanctions imposed by the DDJFL on the clubs or individuals involved in the brawl. He would not say if the DDJFL had conducted an investigation into the fight or what the league was doing to stamp out ugly parent behaviour at its matches.
“The incident has been settled,” Mr Finkelde said.
The bust up occurred only a week before an all in brawl during an under 16 DDJFL match between Cranbourne and Beaconsfield. Cranbourne JFC asked an adult – believed to have played a role in inciting the fight with abusive, vulgar and offensive language towards other spectators, umpires and players – to leave the club.
Fountain Gate JFC president David Shaw said the club had been fined $500 by the DDJFL.
He said the Fountain Gate runner was suspended for five weeks.
A Hallam JFC official said the league had dealt with the matter and they would not be commenting any further.
And there were no winners on the day of the latest brawl with the game officially abandoned after the fight.
