O, what a week for a party on campus

By Rebecca Fraser
STUDENTS at Berwick’s Monash University have been partying hard this week as part of annual O-Week celebrations.
The party started on Monday when more than 200 students flocked to the Clyde Road campus to enjoy cyclone rides and bungee challenges while making new friends and getting a first taste of university life.
Welfare officer with Monash Union of Berwick Students, Keegan Street, said orientation week was a great opportunity for students to become involved and make new friends.
“It is also a good introduction to what student services are available and shows all the fun stuff you can do at university and that there is more to it than just the classroom.
“When I was a first-year student last year I went on O-Camp and made lots of great friends and stayed mates with them all through the year.
“O-Week makes the rest of the year much easier,” Mr Street said.
During this week students enjoyed barbecues, snow cones and Red Bull energy drinks and Falusa (Foundation Allowing Liquor Under Sound Appreciation) provided free drinks on Wednesday.
Mr Street said the Christian Union, the Buddhist Society, the Ultra Outdoor Club, Falusa and the Monash University Rugby Club also held information stalls throughout the week.
On Tuesday brave students attempted the rock-climbing wall and on Wednesday night students enjoyed a party in the newly revamped student lounge and embarked on a pub crawl throughout Casey.
Ms Street said live bands and DJs kept students entertained throughout the week and today there would be a recovery day in the student lounge complete with massage, movies and popcorn. There will also be an orientation camp to Waratah Bay this weekend.
