Cops rammed in car chase

THREE police cars were wrecked during a pursuit of a stolen vehicle through Narre Warren on Tuesday morning.
The chase started after an unmarked police car noticed the stolen ute in a Dandenong industrial area about 5.10am.
Officers followed the Ford F100 Utility for a short time before activating their lights and attempting to intercept the vehicle.
Police said the driver, who was wearing a balaclava, stopped in the middle of the road before reversing into the front of the unmarked police car and driving off again.
A Dandenong divisional van continued to pursue the stolen car along the Princes Highway and into a residential estate in Narre Warren, where a second police van took over the chase.
The car then stopped in Darling Way and reversed into the front of the Narre Warren divisional van before again speeding off.
Narre Warren Police continued to follow the stolen car towards Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, where a Cranbourne divisional van was waiting on the side of the road.
Police said the pursued driver appeared to see the waiting van and stopped, before reversing into the Narre Warren van for the second time.
The car then drove off on the opposite side of the road and rammed the stationary Cranbourne divisional van.
The driver then did a u-turn and attempted to drive back over the damaged Cranbourne van, which was still stationary on the side of the road. As the car performed the u-turn one of its tyres blew out.
However, the pursuit continued through parkland on Norfolk Road where the car collided with several bollards.
The car pulled over near the intersection of Tamarisk Road and Monterey Court, and the driver jumped out and attempted to run off before police arrested him.
The driver, an 18-year-old Pakenham man, is due be charged with at least six counts of conduct endangering life and several other traffic offences.
He is set to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
