Attacks no party

THREE stabbings at gatecrashed parties in Berwick and Clyde North last weekend has sparked calls for a zero tolerance approach towards knife-wielding youths.
The 24 hours of bloodshed started early Saturday morning when two men were stabbed after a Clyde North party was gatecrashed.
Police said trouble flared at the Berwick-Cranbourne Road property after four men were denied entry at about 12.10am.
The 20-year-old hosting the party was stabbed several times in the torso while his friend, a 19-year-old Endeavour Hills man, also suffered multiple stab wounds during the attack.
The four attackers fled the scene in a car.
Both victims were taken to Casey Hospital by fellow party goers before they were transported to The Alfred hospital via ambulance.
The men were still in hospital in a serious but stable condition on Tuesday afternoon.
The violence occurred less than 24 hours before a separate stabbing at a Berwick party.
In that attack a 17-year-old Narre Warren boy was stabbed in the left buttock after an argument occurred at the 18th birthday party held at the Berwick Fields Primary School hall.
Police said an argument started between people accompanying a band that was performing and some invited guests about 11.20pm.
The victim was stabbed in the left buttock before his assailant ran off.
The teenager gave chase but his injuries forced him to stop and seek medical attention. He was taken to Dandenong Hospital where he underwent surgery for a non-life threatening stab wound.
Police are still looking for the Berwick attacker but have arrested and charged four people in relation to the Clyde North crime.
Local Liberal candidate for Holt Emanuele Cicchiello has been a strong advocate for a tougher stance of knife attacks.
Mr Cicchiello wants the State Government to crack down on young people who carry knives and consider implementing tougher minimum sentences for those caught committing such an offence.
“Enough is enough. These attacks just confirm our fears,” he said.
“People carrying concealed weapons such as knives do so for one reason and that’s to intentionally cause injury to others in the community,” Mr Cicchiello said.

• Narre Warren South resident Michael Smith, 20, and Narre Warren man Simon Moens, 18, have both been charged with two counts of intentionally causing serious injury.
Both men have been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
A 17-year-old Narre Warren South boy has also been charged with two counts of intentionally causing serious injury. He has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Children’s Court at a later day.
A 16-year-old Narre Warren South boy also faces the same charges and was bailed by police to appear at Dandenong Children’s Court on 5 October.
