Red letter day for donors

BLOOD was shed for a good cause in Pakenham last week.
A total of 395 residents made vital donations to the Australian Red Cross Blood Service’s mobile unit at the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
Pakenham Red Cross president Meryl Waterhouse said the organisation was most grateful.
Blood donations could be at least 3000 units below Victoria’s needs by the end of this month.
The Red Cross blood service is in the middle of a statewide ‘Live life to the full’ campaign designed to encourage people who thought about giving blood — but never have — to make an appointment.
The mobile service received a good response at Pakenham last Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be at Berwick Secondary College on 25 November from 9.45am to 3.15pm.
The blood bank will return to Pakenham in February.
