Tynong Anzac Day Service

The Tynong Fire Brigade and Progress Association held an Anzac Day Service at the Cenotaph on Railway Avenue at 10.30am. It was well supported by the local community with many young families attending. Fire Brigade captain David Glazzard led the proceedings and thanked those who attended the service. And to pay their respects and to remember and acknowledge our armed services country men and women who served and still serve and to commemorate the 110th landing of Gallipoli. Mrs Gladys Guigley led The Lord’s Prayer. On behalf of the council Ex councilor Graeme Moore spoke briefly about the birth of Anzac Day and read a new poem “On this Hallowed Day” by Stewart Elliot.

Nar Nar Goon RSL President Terrence Reeves gave a short talk on his experience in the Australian Navy a gave a special and moving presentation of a poem he wrote called “From Boy to Veteran”.

Visitors laid wreaths and the last post was played. Tracey Garick cited The Ode. New Zealand and Australian National Anthems were sung. Visitors then enjoyed morning tea put on by the Tynong Progress Association as they reminisced.
