Berwick local Debra Wells showed that anyone can make a difference by hosting her own biggest morning tea to raise funds for cancer research.
Titled “Pink Party for a Purpose”, the event was held in association with Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, which raises funds for the Cancer Council.
The day gathered over 50 friends of Ms Wells at her residence on Sunday 27 April.
Ms Wells held the event this year after a friend, who usually runs a similar event, could not do so this year.
Most of all, it means a day of hope for all the people who have had cancer impact their lives.
“I know people who are going through it, I know people who have been through it, everyone is touched by it,” Ms Wells said.
The event has raised over $4,000 and counting.
To Ms Wells, this demonstrates the impact everyone can have in supporting each other.
“I wanted to inspire people, that you can raise money for these important causes,” Ms Wells said.
“Little things can become big things.”
A small business owner, Ms Wells thanked the many local businesses who were more than happy to donate to her morning tea.
She called on people to support local small business in return.
