Native giveaway for wildlife havens

A PLANT giveaway in Pakenham last week was a huge success.
Sponsored by the Nestle factory in Pakenham and delivered by the Cardinia Shire Council, more than 15,000 native plants were given out to enthusiasts to make their gardens and properties more sustainable and a haven for native wildlife.
There were also distribution points at Emerald and Koo Wee Rup.
Nestle invested $22,000 into the project through the Nestle Community Environment Program which works to improve the local environment in communities across Australia.
Friends of Mt Cannibal, Helen GenomiFarnham and Hugh Kelly, helped provide technical information to the public at the Pakenham giveaway check point.
David Arkell, human resources manager for the Nestle factory at Pakenham, thanked them for their support.
“Without the dedication of the Friends groups and Landcare volunteers this would have not been possible,” he said.
