Rhythmic end to arts program

MORE than 400 Casey residents enjoyed the rhythmic tunes and energetic dance performances at the winter arts finale concert in Berwick recently.
The concert, held at Berwick Church of Christ, wrapped up the Casey winter arts program for 2007.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said the event was a celebration of Casey’s vibrant and talented arts community.
“The evening was a wonderful family event that showcased a variety of music and dance pieces as well as performances by a wide range of groups representing Casey’s diverse community,” Cr Butler said.
“It was a fitting conclusion to the annual winter arts program.”
Visitors to the concert were treated to colourful and dazzling dance performances by Shivalayam Nadanalaya Indian Dance Group, Glenbrae Celtic Dancers and Unda-Size Hip Hop Group.
Freedom Chilean Band, Cranbourne Lions Concert Band and Casey Pipe Band along with Casey Idol winners Naomi Horsley and Dwayne D’Cruz thrilled the audience with memorable musical performances.
Just Harmony closed the event with an inspirational performance of You Raise Me Up.
Now in its sixth year, the winter arts program provides an exciting range of arts opportunities to all age groups in the community including a variety of performances and concerts, workshops and exhibitions.
