Teens charged over violent assault

Five teens from Melbourne’s south east have been arrested following a violent assault in Narre Warren on Sunday.

It is alleged the 16-year-old victim was sitting at the bus stop on Overland Drive when she was approached by a group of females who assaulted her and stole her mobile phone around 2pm on Sunday 28 November.

Three passers-by came to the victim’s aid and were also attacked before the group fled on a bus.

Police were advised that the bus had dropped the offenders in Narre Warren South.

Members of the SD3 Frontline Tactical Unit were patrolling the area and located all five offenders who were arrested and taken to the Dandenong Police Station for interview.

A 15-year-old Narre Warren girl, a 15-year-old Pakenham girl and a 16-year-old Cranbourne girl were remanded in custody, while a 17-year-old Pakenham girl and a 16-year-old Cranbourne East girl were bailed with strict conditions to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
