THE Pakenham U14s football team that recently kicked 2.21 seems to be recovering from the yips after slotting through 2.6 against Hampton Park on Sunday.
The Pakenham Blues side lost to the lowly Narre Warren Foxes by one point the previous weekend despite having nine more opportunities in front of goal.
Coach David Nagel last week told the News he was at a loss to explain his side’s inaccuracy.
“It was just one of those things, it was unbelievable,” he said.
“We just couldn’t kick a goal.
“Every time I looked over at the parents they had their heads in their hands.”
Although the Pakenham Blues 14s side straightened up on the weekend, it wasn’t enough to topple ladder leaders Hampton Park who prevailed by 15 points.
Despite still being slightly wayward in front of goal, Nagel says his side’s progress throughout the season has been pleasing.
“The boys were happy as we were beaten by 48 points last time we played them,” he said.
“We are really improving.”
The Lions just need to be able to put the icing on the cake in front of the big sticks, which Nagel says won’t be a problem come finals time in two weeks.
“By the finals we will be kicking no points,” he said.
