A GROUP of almost 400 blokes lined up for a lecture and a laugh at the second annual Casey Cardinia Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch on Friday.
The event, run by a community committee put together by Star News Group, aims to raise money and awareness around prostate cancer.
The lunch provides an opportunity for men to enjoy a full afternoon of entertainment – provided by comedian Russell Gilbert and football legends David Parkin and Anthony Koutoufides – and also an opportunity to spread a health message among the crowd related to prostate cancer.
That message came across loud and clear through John Strachan from the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, survivor David Parkin and St John of God urologist Scott Donnellan.
There was also the fund-raising component. Figures are still being tallied, but the amount raised to sink in to prostate cancer research and awareness initiatives is expected to easily eclipse last year’s total of $53,000.
