Man’s life in danger after mystery incident

A MAN suffered lifethreatening injuries yesterday after an incident at the Clyde Road overpass in Berwick.
Sergeant Jamie Stewart of Narre Warren Police said police attended the scene at 9.30am and were still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Sgt Stewart said they were trying to determine whether the man had been hit while walking or had fallen from the bridge.
“We are trying to work out whether he was hit on the ground as a pedestrian or whether he came off the bridge,” he said.
The man was conveyed to The Alfred hospital. A hospital spokesperson yesterday said the man was still in a critical condition.
Police had been unable to identify the man by the time the News went to print.
VicRoads diverted traffic from Pakenham onto the Old Princes Highway in Beaconsfield for a short period following the incident, but the freeway was reopened about 10.30am.
