A SPATE of Christmas burglaries has prompted police to urge holiday-makers to properly secure their homes while they are away.
Senior Sergeant Ian Wilcox from Narre Warren police has advised that holiday goers ensure their house looks lived in while they are away by getting a neighbour or friend to collect mail, mow lawns and to generally maintain the house.
Other tips include ensuring that security doors are properly mounted and fitted, windows and doors are locked tightly, and security lights be installed to alert neighbours of any unusual activity.
