ONLOOKERS lined the streets for a glimpse of royalty last week and Princess Mary didn’t disappoint.
Word spread quickly that the Tasmanian-born Princess was visiting Pakenham Springs Primary School on Thursday, but only a lucky few got a wave and a hand shake from the royal subject.
Dressed in a white skirt with a tan and green blouse, the ever-elegant Princess shook the hands of all of the prep students.
The Danish Princess was a hit with the countless young girls, mothers and grandparents who scaled the school fences in awe of her grace.
Some of the younger ones dressed in their best princess dresses and adorned their hair with tiaras, dreaming of a fairytale similar to Mary’s.
She was there to visit the eco-friendly green school building, Envi, inspired by Danish technology.
Five-year-old Kiara dressed as a princess and waited patiently outside the school gates. She said it was pretty cool to see a princess in Pakenham. “She’s beautiful,” Kiara said.
Asked about her time in Pakenham, Princess Mary said: “It is lovely and so are the people.”
Grade 6 students Calvin and Rhiannah welcomed Princess Mary to the school, saying they were delighted that she could be part of the opening.
She was a crowd favourite, taking the time to acknowledge the beaming crowd.
Prep students Liam and Skye presented the Princess with a bouquet.
It certainly was a royal visit to remember, the day a Princess came to Pakenham.
