The Pakenham Football Club mourns the loss of past premiership player and coach Trevor Wilson, who passed away peacefully on Saturday.
A decorated footballer, Trevor spent nine years with the Richmond Football Club in the VFL days, starting in the fourths before playing a handful of senior games and winning the leading goalkicker award in 1970.
After Richmond, he spent time at Footscray and Williamstown, before joining Bena in the Bass Valley League and winning a league best and fairest in 1974.
From there, he played with Dandenong and Korumburra, before joining the Pakenham Lions and becoming a premiership coach, officially ending his playing career after the 1982 premiership.
Trevor played a part in the development of many juniors in the region of the years, coaching the Victorian Representative Under-15 side and Gippsland Power’s Under-18s in 1994 – he was even a football umpire after his playing days concluded.
Pakenham Cricket Club also paid its respects to the former player and president, who won two First XI premierships at the Lions.
He was a committee member at the club and also served as president for five years during the 1980s, with a deep involvement for the Over-50s and Over-60s veteran’s cricket competitions.
He will be remembered as a champion sportsperson and a champion bloke. Rest in Peace Trevor.
