Deserving winners across the board in Outer East awards

The Outer East Football Netball League hosted its annual awards night on Saturday and winners were spread across the board.

In netball, Kaelah O’Shanassy took home the Premier Division B Grade leading goalscorer and best and fairest, worthy recognition for her record-breaking season for ROC.

Another Kangaroo, Olive Henry, was named the 17-under best and fairest for her outstanding efforts in ROC White this year.

Fetuliaina Falo from Pakenham and ROC’s Charli Maher shared the Premier Division 15-under league medal after tying on 25 votes.

Pakenham also saw Division One leading goal-shooter awards handed to Caitlin Kilner (D Grade), Ashwini Nadarajah (B Grade) and Charlotte Hudolin (A Grade).

For the second straight year, superstar Lions keeper Caitlin Cooke won the league best and fairest, this time in Division One.

This earned her a spot in the A Grade Team of the Year alongside teammates Eliza Molino (interchange) and Hudolin (interchange) while Matt Cooke was named assistant coach.

In the Premier Division A Grade Team of the Year, Krista Tomlinson (centre) and Brodie Smith (interchange) from Emerald were named.

The Lions also enjoyed success in football, with Zak De Bono (under-18s) and Matt Vaiano (reserves) each receiving Division One leading goalkicker awards.

De Bono then added a fourth medal to his trophy cabinet in the last month with the under-18s best and fairest.

Two Pakenham players made the Women’s Division One Team of the Year, being Courtney Stephens (full forward) and Kasey Exposito (wing).

In the grade below, Officer’s Breana Granger (back pocket) and Madeline Caarels (wing) and Emerald’s Saige Van Haren (back pocket), Ruby Langham (half back), Laura Gillard (interchange), Amber Brierly (interchange) and Scott Stephens (assistant coach) were named.

Men’s Premier Division had Officer’s Mark Seedsman (full forward), Emerald’s Ewan Wadsworth (follower) and Gembrook Cockatoo skipper Josh Tilly (follower).

In the second flight’s Team of the Year, four Pakenham players made the cut with Luke Ryan (centre), Tanner Stanton (wing), Mason Hall (forward pocket) and Bailey Stiles (interchange) being awarded spots.

The Pakenham Football Club and Emerald Football Club were both recognised as the best conducted football clubs in their respective divisions.
