Battle of the big guns to finish the season

The battle for top place in the South West Gippsland Dart League has come down to the wire with the two undefeated teams set for a round-13 showdown.

Cheers and Predators will lock horns this week after both scored impressive victories in round 12.

Cheers will enter the big clash in fine form, disposing of third-placed Snipers 11-4 in a real flexing of muscle.

Ant, Liam, Shane and Hank once again combined for a plethora of triple-figure scoring for Cheers, while Snipers Dean Gibbs and Chris Richardson were outgunned for one of the few times this year.

Gibbs still holds a commanding lead in the race for most tons this season, now having 81 with one round remaining of competition.

Predators also won well, scoring a 10-5 victory over Dart Devils.

Steve was once again the key player for Predators, who are just one win away from finishing on top of the ladder.

Just Social is clinging on to fourth spot after a 14-1 thumping of bottom-placed Dart Attack.

Tony and 4×4 were in terrific form for Socials, scoring seven and five tons respectively, while JJ Jenkins was also impressive in the lead up to finals.

Just Social can lose fourth spot to its round-13 opponent Mud Rats after the Rats fired in an 11-4 win over AAA Dartz.

Mud Rats currently sit fifth, but on equal points with Just Social, setting up a blockbuster clash this week.

The winner will still be alive in the race for the premiership cup, while the loser will start favourite in the Don Brown Memorial Shield…a finals series played between teams that finish from fifth to eighth on the ladder.

In other games this week, Generals jumped a place on the ladder after a 9-6 win over Gembrook, while 26ers scored their third victory of the season with a 9-6 win over Bullseyes.

Dart Vaders had the bye.
