Phil Wright and his team the newest legends of Lang Lang

Phil Wright and his team of Peter Taylor and Derek Fenn are the latest winners of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group weekly challenge after a wonderful day of bowls at Lang Lang.

Another beautiful day greeted the large contingent, who once again caught up to battle it out for supremacy.

Members of the group were welcomed to the club by Bev and John while Vern hastily arranged the teams.

Once selected, players were straight out onto the green to get to work and the green was in excellent condition as is normally the case at Lang Lang.

There were plenty of happy players, with laughter across the greens and there was lots of friendly banter from all rinks from the bowlers.

There were one or two wrong-bias bowls this week but these only help to fill our Royal Children’s Hospital tin.

But as always we have our winners and those who did not quite make it across the line and this week’s winners on a score of 37 were Peter Taylor (L), Derek Fenn (3) and Phil Wright (S).

Runners up on a score of 36 were Diane Kessen (L), Max Summers (S), Robyn Coulson (3) and Dave Martin (2).

Best One game winner, on a great score of 19, was Al Weeden (L), Mary Pagett (3), Enid Johnston (2) and Vern Elliott (S).

Many thanks go to David for preparing the green and also to Marianne for all her hard work behind the bar.

Thanks also go to Marianne, Diane and Laurie for their work in the kitchen as well as cleaning up both inside and out following the game.

This week we will be meeting at Loch to once again fight it out for team of the week.

Please be on site by 10am to allow time to prepare the teams.

Unfortunately with numbers generally reaching our capacity we will have to be strict on a 10am cut off time.

Meanwhile till then, have fun and stay safe.

-Laurie Bell-
