Special day for Lions

Pakenham’s final home game of the Outer East Football Netball season was nothing short of magical on Saturday at Toomuc Reserve.

It was a day of connection hosting its beloved ‘Buddy Round’ and celebrating five milestone games, creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere.

From the first whistle to the final siren, the spirit of the club shone brightly both on and off the court and field.

The grounds were buzzing with energy as players, families, and supporters came together to honour achievements, enjoy each other’s company, and cheer on their teams.

Football and netball took centre stage as crowds flocked to support their sides, with each match played in front of an electric atmosphere that reflected the pride and passion of the community.

The day was a testament to the power of sport to unite, inspire, and celebrate all that’s good about grassroots clubs.

It was more than just a game day – it was a celebration of culture, connection, and Pakenham club pride.

Special guests included Member for Pakenham Emma Vulin MP, together with valued long-serving Life Members Maureen “Brownie” McGrath and Jean Kelsey.

Maureen was the first Life Member for Pakenham Netball back in 1963.

The Lions congratulated and celebrated Isabel Walker, Rachel Mann and Charlotte Hudolin’s 100th milestone game, together with Eliza Molino’s 150th game and Katie Jones’ 200th game.

The Guard of Honour for Katie was captured on video and was full of emotion before the B Grade team took the court.

Club president Marg Jones expressed her sincerest gratitude to everyone that contributed to making this a memorable day in the club’s long and proud history.

From the amazing posters that players made that glistened in the winter’s sun around the court, to the buddy brunch that was offered to all, together with the five milestone game celebrations, it was a day that filled her heart with joy and pride.

Pakenham has one more game away against Seville before its finals campaign commences on Saturday 23rd of August.
