Terrific action as a range of teams get a lick of the ice cream

The winter season of the South West Gippsland Dart League (SWGDL) began to really warm up in round five with some terrific action at the top and bottom of the table.

The top-three – Cheers, Predators and Snipers – all showcased their premiership-winning potential, while AAA Dartz and 26ers finally found some rhythm with their opening wins of the season.

Cheers maintained its number-one ranking with a 10-5 victory over Dart Vaders, with the ladder-leaders overall depth a real highlight of the night.

Ant, Liam and Shane all threw five tons in an impressive display against a Vaders team coming off back-to-back wins.

Cheers can cool its jets this week with the round-six bye while Dart Vaders face another tough challenge against second-placed Predators.

Snipers have bounced back strongly from their opening-round defeat, making it four-straight wins with a 10-5 success over Generals.

Dean Gibbs was once again superb for Snipers, throwing seven tons for the evening to take his tally to 36 from five rounds.

Snipers have now moved to third; recovering well from their early-season hiccup.

Another team on the rise is Just Social, who move to fifth after a 10-5 win over Gembrook.

4×4 was the main inflictor of pain, throwing five tons to lead the Socials to victory.

26ers are on the board after a 9-6 triumph over Dart Attack.

The battle of the bottom-two teams on the ladder was a hard-fought affair, but the class of Dale and the crew led 26ers to the win.

AAA Dartz is also a first-time winner, making up for lost time with a mammoth 13-2 victory over Bullseyes.

It was a really strong team performance from AAA, who had to overcome a brilliant 180 from Chris Burke from Bullseyes to get the points on the board.

AAA possess some serious fire-power and will fancy their chances this week against fourth-placed Dart Devils.

And in the final game of round five, Predators were made to work hard for a 9-6 win over Mud Rats.

Jacob was rock-solid for Predators with three tons, while Jack Michalke provided the highlight of the night with a maximum 180 for Mud Rats.

Scott and Keith battled hard for Mud Rats, throwing five and three tons respectively.

Dart devils had the round-five bye.
