Glasses clinking loudly as Cheers sit top of the ladder

Glasses are being raised around the South West Gippsland Dart League after Cheers continued its mesmerising start to the winter season in round four.

Cheers have been totally dominant over the first month of the competition, adding a 12-3 victory over Mud Rats to earlier conquests against 26ers (13-2), Generals (13-2) and Dart Attack (13-2).

The ladder-leaders were in terrific touch, with Liam Edwards returning to his very best form with an impressive nine tons for the evening.

Teammates Ant, four tons, and Shane Barnett, three tons, were also in fine nick, while Keith and Scott fired in two tons each for Mud Rats.

Keeping Cheers honest at the top of the table are Predators, who made it four straight victories with an 11-4 win over Dart Attack.

Jacob and Steve provided the spark for Predators, while Warwick once again provided the highlight for Dart Attack, firing in a 74 finish after his spectacular 180 last week.

Dart Vaders caused the upset of round four, defeating the previously unbeaten Dart Devils by nine legs to six.

Jay received a nice round of applause for his 94 peg-out for Vaders, who have bounced back with two consecutive wins after starting their season with two losses.

The Devils will have to wait two weeks for redemption; having the round-five bye!

Snipers are building nicely into their season, making it three-straight wins with an 11-4 success over Just Social.

JJ Jenkins from Just Social provided the match-highlight, securing a 103-peg-out, but the Snipers just had too much depth to overcome.

Dean Gibbs took his ton-tally to 29 from four rounds; firing in five centuries on the night, while Bill and Chris Richardson were also in terrific form.

Tony and 4×4 kept Just Social in the contest with multiple tons on the night.

Gembrook currently sits in fifth place after making it back-to-back wins with a 10-5 victory over AAA Dartz.

Nugget was the star for Gembrook, throwing a classy 65 checkout, while Ted Jordan and Keith showed some resilience for AAA.

It’s been a slow start to the season for AAA, having a first-round bye and then three-consecutive losses.

And Generals are on the board this season, scoring a hard-fought 9-6 triumph over bottom-of-the-ladder 26ers.

John and Rob were key players for Generals, while Dale kept 26ers in the hunt until the final legs of the evening.

Being one of two winless teams, 26ers will hope to open their account against Dart Attack in round five.

Bullseyes had the round-four bye.
