Timing’s all right at Drouin

DROUIN GOLF

There was a lot going on at Drouin Golf and Country Club on Saturday with the Winter Wade and Dwyer Cup events adding to the importance of Saturday’s stableford competition.

A total of 128 players took to the course, with Paul Timewell leading the A Grade charge, scoring 38 points to hold off runner up Shane Davidson by two shots.

Davidson survived a four-way countback with to secure second prize.

In B Grade it was Trevor Piner who won with 40 points and Roger Crow finished runner up with 39 points.

Dave Axford was the winner in C Grade scoring 39 points and Peter Steer came in runner up with 38 points.

D Grade winner was Neil Wyatt with 36 points ahead of runner up Ron Tomasetti with 35 points. Josh Taylor claimed the Super Six prize on a countback with 15 points.

Down the lines went to Jordy Wyatt 38, Alan Storer 36, Fred Roknic 36, Dave Cavanagh 36, Rohan Berkhout 36, Mitch Dyer 35, James Wagner 35, Shane Dwyer 35, Darren Hayes 35, Phil Adams 34, Samuel Werner 34, Rod Mepstead 34, Simon Caygill 34, Pete Morris 34, Darren Wolfenbuttel 34, Rob North 34 and Reg Dixon 34.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Kelly Belcher (Sharkey’s Barbershop), 8th Bret McKeller, 10th Simon Caygill (Pro Pin), 11th Mitchell Baker (Target Hole) and 14th Pete Morris (Commercial Hotel).

WINTER WADE

Over the last two Saturday’s the Winter Wade has been contested as an aggregate over two rounds. Trevor Piner was the winner by three points with scores of 38 and 40 for a total of 78 points.

There was something different for the mid-week players last week, with the competition being a 4BBB Par event consisting of 47 pairs.

Winners of A Grade with a score of +8 were Glenn and Luke Vanderligt.

Peter Steer and Michael O’Rafferty combined to win B Grade with +9 and Adrian Unwin and Phil Beruldsen won C Grade also with +9.

Down the lines went to John White and Bruce Salmon +6, Tim Lawrence and Dave Axford +5, Shane Dwyer and Basil Bate +5, Rick De Jonge and John Wilson +4, Roger Crow and Graham Austin +4 and Nick Fitt and Kevin Johnson +4.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Gary Florence, 8th Simon Caygill, 10th Joel Thomson and 14th Geoff Campbell.

The Medley Stableford competition on Sunday was won by Jack Carbonneau with 36 points, while Callum McKenzie won a ball down the line on a countback with 34 points.

A small field contested Thursday morning’s 9-Hole Stableford competition with Glenn Robinson the winner with 14 points.

Upcoming competitions are Stableford midweek, Thursday (9 Hole) and Sunday, while Saturday’s competition is a Par Bisque.

DROUIN LADIES

Drouin women played an American Foursomes event on Tuesday July 15.

The winners were Jes Ploeger (31) and Alice Robjant (18) with a nett score of 73.625 and runners up were Anne Neilson (20) and Judy Dixon (18) with 80.75.

Down the line balls went to Judy Bibby and Ann Roberts with 82.25 and nearest the pins went to 5th Anne Neilson and 14th Susie Menzel.

Saturday July 19 was a stableford event for the women and the winner was Ciara Davies (19) with 35 points followed by Leanne Pollard (9) with 33 points.

This week is an individual stableford event, while next Tuesday is a Par event.

August 5 is the August Monthly Medal Stroke event.
