Dady delivers as the ‘full house’ sign lights up at Lang Lang

The popularity of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group continues to amaze with the ‘full-house’ sign almost going up for this week’s team challenge at Lang Lang Bowls Club.

The group was signed in by Bev and Vern as Rob and David arranged the teams for the day.

It was then out to the green in single-digit temperatures to once again fight it out for team of the week.

Some great teams were united with marvellous players making the day so much fun.

There were a few wrong-bias bowls for the day, but this only makes the players try harder and adds to the Royal Children’s Hospital tin.

Over the day the temperature rose to the mid-teens with a reasonable amount of direct sunlight so overall it was a beautiful day for bowling.

But as always, there are winners and there is the rest of us and this week’s winners on a magnificent score of 34 were Michael Dady (S), Luke Monckton (3) and Tony Heppleston (L).

Runners up, also on a score of 34, were John O’Day (L), Shirley Corcoron (2), Steve Edge (3) and John Nicholson (S), while Best One Game Winners on the day, on a score of 18, were Vern Elliott (S), Bob Arnold (L), Chris Coulson (2) and Raff Merante (3).

A big thank you to Marianne who looked after all our thirsty players in the bar as well as cleaning up with Laurie after all our players left to go home.

Also, a big thank you to Colin for cleaning up outside.

This week we will be meeting up at Loch and District Bowls club to once again challenge our friends for team of the week.

Please, be on site by 10am as the numbers are getting quite high and if you are in after the books are full then you may have to miss out.

Meanwhile, until then, have fun and stay safe.

-Laurie Bell-
