Hanrahan and Harper happy after winning roll at Corinella

Bowlers from the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group got the last of the good weather on Thursday with a great turnout of bowlers heading to Corinella Bowls Club for the weekly challenge.

It was another beautiful day, with the group welcomed and signed in by John while Rob and David prepared the teams for the weekly challenge.

Once the teams were selected, we headed for the green, with everyone keen to enjoy success and be part of this week’s Team of the Week.

The weather looked promising for the day with no wind to speak of and the occasional break in the clouds allowing the sun to shine down on us.

As usual the bowlers excelled themselves with some wonderful bowling, however, that did not stop some players from helping to fill the Royal Children’s Hospital tin with the odd wrong-bias bowl.

There was also lots of laughter and friendly banter on most of the rinks and it’s always good to see so many people enjoying themselves and having a bit of fun.

As usual we can only have one winner, and this week’s well-deserved winners on 36 points were Mark Hanrahan (S), Gwen Jeffrey (2), Gillian Harper (3) and Tony Morris (L).

Runners Up for the day on 36 points were Michael Saunders (2), Rob Paganoni (S), Robyn Coulson (3) and Bob Arnold (L).

Best One Game winners on a score of 20 were Lou Capsalis (L), Mark Andreatta (S) and David Talbot (3).

Members of the club would like to wish a ‘Get Well Soon’ to both Elaine and Peter; both of these wonderful people have been in the wars health wise and we look forward to their speedy return.

This Thursday, 29 May, we will be playing at San Remo Bowls Club.

Please, be on time as the numbers are getting very close to a full house, and if you are in after the books are full then you may have to miss out.

Meanwhile, until then, have fun and stay safe.
