Loughridge leads the way

Bleak weather could not halt the momentum of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group with 50 members attending the Loch and District Bowls Club for the weekly challenge.

We were greeted by Pauline and Vern and John while Peter and David and Claire prepared the teams.

Rain, hail and snow was beating down on us all, well, maybe not quite that bad; but quite a few showers of icy-cold rain being the order of the day.

Somehow, we all managed to get through the day without reducing the ends played.

Loch is such a pleasure to play on; it always plays true and it is just so smooth.

There were one or two wrong bias bowls to keep the Royal Children’s Hospital jar filling up fast.

Keep up the good work all.

Bad weather or not, it was a magnificent fun day for all and sundry, but how could it not be with the lovely members of our bowls group.

Anyway, as always there are the winners and then there is the rest of us.

This week’s winners on a great score of 36 points were Jenny Smith (L), Trevor Loughridge (S) and Wendy Pownall (3).

Runners up on a score of 34 were Raff Merante (3), Steve Muhi (S) and Bob Arnold (L).

Best One Game winners this week on a score of 19 were Michael Saunders (3) Jenny Harding (L) and Bill Sherriff (S).

I will take this opportunity to thank, once again, all our volunteers for their tireless work.

Including Trevor behind the bar and Andrea in the kitchen.

I bet I’ve overlooked some helpers but I hope they forgive me for my elder memory lapses.

This Thursday, May 15, we will be playing at Lang Lang Bowls Club.

Please, be on time as the numbers are getting very close to a full house and if you are in after the books are full then you may have to miss out.

Meanwhile, until then, have fun and stay safe.
