Drouin Golf Club’s Scratch Pennant team has capped off a brilliant season of golf by winning the 2025 Pennant Final against Morwell on Sunday.

Nine players wore the club’s colours with pride on the weekend, with Mike Santo, Matt Long, Ryan Hammond, Matt Guy, Joel Thomson, Kevin Thorpe, Mark Allen, Zach Bambridge and Lachie Bambridge holding the trophy and pennant aloft.

Drouin won 4.5 to 2.5 to remain undefeated and deserving champions this year.

Congratulations to all players who contributed during the season and thanks to all the caddies and supporters.

A field of 133 players contested the weekend Stableford competition on Saturday.

A Grade was won by Dermott Berkhout with 40 points, with Mick Whitford finishing runner up on a countback with 37 points.

John Hutcheon was the winner of B Grade with 38 points and Danny Gorman was runner up with 37 points.

C Grade saw Darren Wolfenbuttel claim victory with 38 points, while David Bourke was runner up after a three-way count back with 37 points.

Scott McKinnon won D Grade with 40 points ahead of runner up Neville Clements who had 36 points on a countback.

Top score for the day came from young junior Marcel Lalut who scored 43 points and won E Grade; runner up was Zach Angus on a countback with 40 points.

Andrew Hyndman claimed the Super Six prize on a countback with 15 points.

Down the lines went to Andrew Hyndman 40, Zach Wright 38, Kevin Johnson 37, Mitchell Baker 37, Matt Green 37, Bryan Delaney 36, Cody Andrews 36, Ben Jeffrey 36, Garry Burns 36, Dean Anastasiu 36, Brett Dyer 36, Thomas O’Dae 36, Trevor McPhail 36, Mick Wardle 35, Ron Tomasetti 35, Fred Roknic 35, Noel Green 35 and Adam Clark 35.

Nearest the pins went to 2nd Grant Wilson (Target Hole), 5th Marcel Lalut (Commercial Hotel), 8th Dean Anastasiu (Sharkey’s Barbershop), 10th John Hutcheon and 14th Fred Roknic (Pro Pin).

It a busy day on Wednesday with 118 players teeing it up in the Par competition last week.

Lachie Bambridge shot an impressive eight-under par to comfortably win A Grade with a score of +4. Mick Whitford was runner up on a countback finishing his round square.

B Grade saw Warren Cook victorious over runner up Vic Bradshaw on a countback after both players finished +2.

Luke Vanderligt and Bill Toogood also needed a countback to separate them in C Grade.

Both players finished on +4, with Luke ending up winning on a countback and Bill coming runners up. Malcolm Rawson was the winner of D Grade with +4 and George King came runners up with +2.

Phil Thomson was the winner of the Super Six with +3.

Down the lines went to Jim Defoe, Simon Greely and John Banfield +2, Shane Wilkinson, Marcus Cameron, Richard Sheehan, Darren Wolfenbuttel, Graham Austin and Paul Duivenvoorden +1, and to Tim Lawrence, Peter Steer, Peter Fusinato, Eric Robbins, Zach Bambridge and Greg Roberts who all finished square with the card.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Jack Greely, 8th Rob Piner, 10th Jarryd Leworthy and 14th Chris Perry.

On Thursday 28 players played in the 9 Hole Medley Stableford competition.

Janet Drummond was the winner on a countback from Narelle Priest with both players scoring 24 points.

Barry Baskett and Craig Magrath both won a ball down the line with 23 points each.

The Medley Stableford event on Sunday was won by Narelle Priest with 41 points, while Lucas Green won a ball down the line on a countback with 37 points.

Upcoming competitions this week are Stableford midweek and Sunday, Stroke on Saturday and 9 Hole Stableford on Thursday morning.
