Young Demons deliver on a thrilling night against Falcons

Casey Demons took on the powerful City West Falcons in round three of the Victorian Netball League (VNL) and came away with mixed results but with hopes still burning strong.

The Demons and Falcons delivered two thrilling encounters in both the Championship and 23 and Under divisions.

Fans were treated to high-intensity contests, with the Championship match turning into a goal-scoring spectacle, while the young Demons showcased their resilience in a nail-biting finish.

The Championship clash saw both sides lighting up the scoreboard in a fast-paced, high-scoring contest.

City West Falcons came out firing, displaying their dominance across the first three quarters and building a strong lead.

However, the Demons refused to back down, showing immense grit and determination to stage a late fightback.

The final term was an even 17-all, demonstrating the Demons’ ability to finish strong under pressure. Despite falling short overall, the Demons’ last-quarter performance highlighted their fighting spirit and ability to go toe-to-toe with one of the league’s toughest opponents.

The 23 and Under side set the tone early, bursting out of the gates with intensity and precision to establish a six-goal lead by halftime.

The Falcons, as expected, fought back fiercely in the second half, making for a gripping goal-for-goal battle that had fans on the edge of their seats.

The young Demons, however, held firm under pressure, showing maturity beyond their years to close out a heart-stopping one-goal victory.

Their defensive efforts, combined with clinical attacking plays, ensured they secured the win in what was a true test of composure.

Both matches showcased the talent, resilience, and determination of the Demons.

While the Championship side will take plenty of positives from their final-quarter surge, the 23 and Under team continues to prove their potential with another gutsy performance.

Next up, the Demons will be looking to build on these efforts as they prepare for round four against Geelong Cougars, where they’ll aim to turn their fight into four-quarter dominance.
