Kookaburra Cup begins to take shape

Four wickets to Praveen Perera helped Clyde remain undefeated in the Casey Cardinia Cricket Association Premier t20 competition.

Perera took 4/17 to restrict upper Beaconsfield to 8/145, which the Cougars chased down with seven balls to spare, Kane Avard and Aaron Fernando timing the chase to perfection.

At Toomuc Reserve, Mick Sweeney found form with a free flowing 47 and 2/12 to lead Tooradin to a 47-run win over Pakenham, while Merinda Park proved too strong for Cardinia.

Officer, Lang Lang, Cranbourne Meadows and Nar Nar Goon/Marknoll all nabbed wins in the second round of the District t20 competition.

The Bullants bounced back from a round one loss against Cranbourne Meadows to defeat Carlisle Park by six wickets inside 15 overs.

After an economical spell of bowling to Callan Tout, Jaswinder Gill and Nick McLennan were the key contributors of the run chase.

Lang Lang bounced back from a heavy round one defeat at the hands of the Marygoons to sneak home by five runs against Emerald.

Rumesh Abeysinghage set the win up with 44 off 23 opening the batting, before a flow of stable contributions through the middle order.

Needing 23 off the last three overs after Owen Thorne gave them a chance with 60 off 38, Damien Quinlan and Theekshana Hettiarachchi staved off the threat for the Tigers.

Cranbourne Meadows remain undefeated after a 63-run over Melbourne Sixers, with Pargat Singh and Rajeev Dhankar bowling the Rebels to victory.

The Marygoons also remain undefeated after Gayan De Silva led them to a three wicket win over Pakenham Upper Toomuc.

The third round will take place on Tuesday 10 December before the top four teams progress to the semi finals.
